Overview & Essential Job Functions:
Position SummaryThe MRF Welder reports to the MRF Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The MRF Welder is personally responsible for all equipment & part welding repairs, fabrication of new and/or replacement parts, hard facing on grinder mills & grabbles, and other duties related to the PM or repairs for MRF and off road equipment.Essential Job FunctionsOperate manual and automated welding equipment to repair MRF vehicles and equipment.Ability to fabricate parts and/or components relative to need or availability.Performs safety inspections and checks on off road vehicles and equipment.Must be able in flat and vertical planes (all position welding), examines for successful welds for depth and penetration (i.e. bead size and other specifications).Completes required paperwork associated with all repairs to vehicles and equipment; to include documentation of parts usage, and repair times.Use of Fall protection, Lock out Tag out, and other Safety EquipmentUse of other hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools and equipmentKnowledge of Hydraulic systems, Electrical and other low voltage powered equipmentAttendance and successful accomplishment of all safety and compliance training.
Qualifications & Environmental Demands:
Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.Trade School Certification.Minimum of 5 years experience in welding: MIG, Arc Welding and fabrication.Ability to effectively communicate welding issues and required repairs.Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with applicable OSHA rules and regulations.Consistently behaves in a manner that is appropriate and professional.Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.Valid Class C Driver's License.Acceptable Driver's Record.Must possess basic personal tools.Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.Preferred QualificationsBilingual English / Spanish.Welder Certification.Heavy & Industrial equipment operation experience.Physical/Environmental Demands:Physical:Seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously.Problem solving, standing, oral communication, analytical ability, Handling (holding), organization, concentration, Eye/hand coordination, working with interruptions & interpersonal abilities continuously.Sitting, written communication, balancing, bending, crouching, kneeling & walking frequently.Pushing & reaching occasionally.Environmental:Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, noise, grease, oil, hot/cold temperatures, standing on concrete & vibration continuously.Exposure to electrical hazards, chemicals, and uneven or slippery surfaces frequently.Works inside & outside.
