DescriptionThe Johnston County Public Health Department has a full-time Environmental Health Specialist position open in the Onsite Wastewater & Well Programs.Duties and ResponsibilitiesIndividual needed to perform on-site evaluation for determining adequacy, application, permitting and post-inspection for commercial, residential and industrial on-site wastewater disposal systems, private drinking water supplies, water sampling, consultation, investigation of public health problems. Also, will participate in the monitoring and inspections of Type III-B septic systems. Education and consultation of the aforementioned to the public, will be needed on a consistent basis.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesWe are seeking an individual with an RS credential and an on-site authorization. We will give strong consideration to a qualified intern that has completed centralized training with an on-site authorization.Desired Education and Experience(1) Graduation from a four-year college or university with 30 semester hours of course work in the physical or biological sciences and two years of experience in environmental health; or(2) A four year or Master's degree in environmental health from a program which is accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Environmental Health Curricula of the National Environmental Health Association and one year of experience in environmental health.Additional Information: Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
