Homestead Rehab & Health Care Center - Recreation Aide – Part Time (2 Positions)
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 12:30 - 6:00 (Every other Thurs to 8:30 pm.)
Every other Sunday 9:00 - 5:00 pm.
Every other Monday 12:30 - 6:00 pm.
MONDAY -FRIDAY 9:30 A.M.-12:30
Every other Sat 9-5 /Monday off
Experience: Six (6) months of experience in recreation work in Long Term Care or one year of experience in a facility for the physically and/or mentally ill or the developmentally disabled in LTC and/or dementia care preferred. Responsible to run scheduled events and work 1:1 with seniors.
Under supervision of an Activities Director perform routine recreational task with facility residents
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee must be able to perform each of the essential functions to effectively be successful in this position
Assist the Resident Activities Director in the planning, development, and implementation of activities which enrich the lives of the residents.
Proactively encourage and support residents’ rights.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the activity department and other departments of the facility. Cooperate with other departments in meeting the needs of the residents.
Work with volunteers – assist in work direction of volunteers as needed.
Conduct one-to-one programs and visit residents who are unable to participate in the daily activities.
Develop and lead small, medium, and large group activities.
Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
Invite and encourage all residents to all programs as appropriate and conduct “Meet and Greet” at the beginning of each program.
Greet entertainers and volunteers when they are scheduled to perform or assist.
Be prepared to be up on the floor at the scheduled activity time and read to conduct the program.
Be familiar with the monthly activity calendar in advance in order to plan and conduct all scheduled activities.
Communicate with the direct supervisor regarding days off, special considerations, resident concerns, staff concerns.
Advise the supervisor in advance if any special items are needed for specific activity.
Always facilitate the activity and be aware of all residents.
End the programs at the appropriate times and return to the activity room to continue with assigned tasks and planning activities.
Clean up after each activity and leave the day room in good condition and ready for the next activity or meal.
Complete all attendance logs, program logs and other required forms in a timely manner and update forms with resident changes as necessary.
Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Actively participates in outdoor games and other recreation activities including those held off facility grounds.
Assists in the measures taken for the care, custody, and safety of residents during group activities.
Assembles, erects, dismantles, and stores the equipment and supplies used in the recreation program and leaves areas in good condition.
