You will be part of Nordstroms Operational Platform Engineering team. This team supports Nordstroms Retail Foundation platform to provide Operational Excellence to our Customers. You will partner with product and program managers to build scalable, distributed, REST and event-based services and web applications. This teams work directly contributes to the companys multi-pronged business objectives to continuously enhance customer satisfaction and increase company revenue.
A day in the life
Responsible for integration design; evaluate designs and provide feedback
Implement complex integration solutions, which satisfy business objectives, with high quality
Influence quality standards and understand, identify, measure across entire solution
Maintain high level of coding, testing and engineering standards
Demonstrates ability to incorporate industry best standards across all engineering teams
Analyze service errors , identify performance issues and optimize solutions
Demonstrate strong knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals
Lead projects inside teams with focus on outcomes and customer experience
This position may be required to perform other related duties as assigned
You own this if you have
Bachelors or Masters degree in CS, Engineering
5+ years professional experience in practice area
*Proficiency in at least one high level programming language used in the industry (preferably Java)*
Contributed to design, development, validation, deployment and monitoring of multiple features for one or more cloud services running in production, at scaleusing AWS, Azure or similar web stack
Experience with test automation and CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, Chef
*Experience collaborating with other disciplines (program management and product management) to deliver features*
Knowledge in event driven design/implementation patterns, containers/micro-services, REST APIs
Proficiency in containers and microservice technologies is a plus
Focuses on both internal and external customers, transforming their challenges into results
Makes valued contributions to solving organization-wide issues by embracing Nordstroms fail forward culture and the organizations mission, vision and values
Makes and influences decisions critical to the organizations success at highest levels by through networks and long-term strategic relationships developed across all levels of the organization
