A higher salary may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City's step placement policy.This job is located in the Parks and Recreation Administration/Marketing Division of the Parks and Recreation Department with the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Manager. The Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for overseeing graphic design projects from concept to completion. This includes the development of effective marketing and communication materials to support print and digital marketing efforts across the organization. An employee in this classification produces work requiring knowledge and skills acquired prior to assuming this position. Essential job functions may include: maintaining brand consistency, designing logos, social media graphics, newsletters, brochures, ads, flyers, signage, etc., and preparing files for prepress, print production and for the web. The employee is also responsible for redesigning and updating internal and external publications; preparing and maintaining a job log; and defining timelines and surveying vendors to get cost estimates and assuring timely delivery. The work assignments are both general and specific in nature and may be received in verbal and written form. The work is performed primarily independently, under the direction and guidance of a supervisor, with work products subject to regular review.VETERANS PREFERENCEHonorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City shall receive five (5) points added to the passing score on an initial selection process.
