The Infrastructure Maintenance business unit ensures the airport maintains its annual operating certificate by performing key maintenance functions as mandated by Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139. Implementing a robust Pavement Management Program, manage Landside and Airside Mowing Activities. Support the eco-structure of the airport by Managing Ditch Maintenance and Erosion Programs using Best Management Practices. "Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required."The Equipment Operator I will include but is not limited to:* Operate heavy equipment.* Observe and implement safety procedures and precautions at work-site.* Maintain and clean equipment and tools.* Perform a variety of manual tasks and activities, i.e. spraying, lawn care, moving furniture, roofing, painting, digging manholes, etc.* Investigate and respond to complaints.WORKING CONDITIONSThe position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. Requires the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fairly fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within moderate tolerance demands.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through nine (9) to eleven (11) years of formal schooling.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSSix (6) months experience in the operation of plant or automotive equipment and attachments are required.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSDepending on the type of equipment to be operated, a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required. Requires compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.PREFERENCESPreference will be given to applicants proficiency in the operation of a two-way radio a plus. The availability to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays preferred. Experience with implementing Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) - Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139 a plus.
