Smile you found us!!!Position Purpose:The primary purpose of this position to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct recreational programs within the guidelines established for Friendship Village and to assure that the spiritual development, emotional, recreational, and social need of the residents are met/maintained on an individual basis. We are seeking a full-time position.Essential Functions/Accountabilities:Plans, develops, implements and evaluates the activity/recreation programs of the facility.Organizes and implements individualized and group programs and encourages residents to pursue their interests by providing materials as needed and in keeping with resident's financial status and department budget.Transports, coordinates transportation, and assists residents to the activities.Conducts group activities in order to engage residents in meaningful activities, which help to enhance their feelings of self-esteem.Compiles and maintains an activity calendar. Disseminates information regarding activity programs and schedule of events to residents, staff, and family as appropriate. Attends resident care conferences as needed.Seeks out new methods and principles and incorporates them into existing activity programs.Completes ongoing assessment of residents, which identify the spiritual, social, recreational, physical and emotional strengths or needs of the individual. The omission of specific statements of functions or responsibilities does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position.Minimum Qualifications:* Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma and programming certification.* Must have aptitude for and some training in arts and crafts.* Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.* Must possess sight/hearing senses, or the use of prosthetics that will enable these sense to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.* Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.* Must be patient, organized, flexible, and able to work independently and enjoy working with older adults.* Must have the ability to work and interact with resident care professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team.* Must have some understanding of the social, psychological, and recreational needs of the aged.* Must possess leadership ability and be willing to work effectively and harmoniously with other personnel.* Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.* May be required to lift equipment, supplies, and occasionally move furniture.* Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and push/pull 50 lbs on a regular basis or up to 100 lbs occasionally.Working Conditions:* Works in well-lighted/ventilated areas.* Sits, stands, bends and moves intermittently during working hours.* Is subject to interruptions.* Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc., under all conditions/circumstances and may be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.* Works closely with nursing personnel, chaplain and other department supervisors.* May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
