Maine Public is seeking a full-time Accounting/Payables Specialist to join our team in Lewiston, Maine. Directly reporting to the Controller, the AP Specialist processes accounts payable checks and EFT payments, matches payments to invoices and check requests, enters data into accounting systems, analyzes and distributes costs associated with utilities and supplies, processes adjustments to the General Ledger, and inputs corresponding journal entries. Additional responsibilities include providing general support to the Administration and Finance Department, organizing and maintaining records, files and maintenance contracts, mailroom duties, purchasing supplies, company postage, coordinating with vendors, contractors, and other service providers, and overseeing maintenance contracts.
Job Requirements: Associates Degree in business administration or related with at least five years relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, with strong data entry skills and attention to detail. Experience with GL software required. Ten-key adding machine skills required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license is required.
The successful candidate must work well both in a team environment and independently.
