Job Description Summary
The University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for a 10-month temporary faculty position in Gerontology in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. This is a federally-funded grant position through June 30, 2020; funding for each subsequent year up to June 30, 2024 is contingent on satisfactory progress and continuation from HRSA.
The qualified candidate will lead research efforts in a 5-year grant-funded Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) grant.
A Master’s degree in gerontology, health administration, public health, or health-related sciences is required; doctorate in in gerontology, health administration, nursing, public health, health-related sciences, psychology, sociology, social work, or related discipline, is preferred. Nursing home administrator license is preferred. The candidate must have knowledge of long-term care administration, gerontology, strong written and oral communication skills, skill in leading, coordinating, and/or curriculum revisions and curriculum evaluation, and the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. The candidate will teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate level.
This position is available immediately. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
The faculty in the College of Nursing and Health Professions work collaboratively on inter-professional projects and support for faculty teaching, practice and scholarship activities are substantially enhanced through grants and other extramural funding.
The college, in addition to university support, houses the Center for Healthy Aging and Wellness which is actively involved in cutting edge research and project work to enhance the lives of elders and caregivers who work with elders. Programs in the College of Nursing and Health Professions are fully accredited and have an exemplary record of grant award successes.
