* Hold a bachelor's degree and teaching certificate from any state (current or expired)
* Are able to work with kids of all ages and LOVE it
* Have the ability to multitask * Have a reliable form of transportation
* Are willing to become certified in multiple Sylvan curriculum
* Are able to instruct Elementary or Middle and High School+ students in the specific area of Reading, English and/or Writing
We specialize in providing personalized 3:1 instruction to students grades K through 12th grade in the following subjects: READING, Math, Study Skills, Writing, SAT/ACT Prep, and our new EDGE STEM courses in Robotics, Science, Coding/Game Design, and Engineering.
As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, your primary responsibility is teaching, not creating lesson plans, grading or parent meetings (our Directors do all that!).
You will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in small group and 3:1 setting.

Requirements As a successful Instructor, you will: Deliver Quality
• Teach using Sylvan based programs • Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour while they work with equipment and materials • Reward students for completed assignments • Evaluate and document student progress • Communicate student needs to the Center Director(s) • Inspire Students: • Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan.
ALL INSTRUCTOR SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED • Enjoy working with children, laughing, and smiling • Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible • Strong problem-solving and customer-service skills • Strong team player • Reliable transportation to/from your assigned location • Excellent work ethic • Great organizational skills and be comfortable using computers and instructional technology • Able to clear a background check • Ability to certify in multiple Sylvan curriculum • Available weekdays and/or weekends (2 or more days a week after school for at least two hours between 4:30pm and 7:30pm and/or Saturday for at least two hours from 9am to 1pm and/or Sunday afternoon, with summer and school vacation days providing opportunities from morning through evening) • Some additional daytime or evening hours may be available in our schedule for established instructors wishing to develop your career with Sylvan and succeed with us in future roles!

Initial hourly rates for instructors starts at $10.50 with paid training. A $0.25 pay increase to $10.75 is available after a satisfacory 90-day certification period.
For each additional curriculum certification pay increases of $0.25+ occur up to an hourly rate of $14+/hr.
with annual rate increases based on performance available.
