SBO Customer Service Rep I

Hours: M-F 8:00 - 4:30
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal and external customers, who may include patients, physicians, other healthcare providers, co-workers, vendors, and visitors. Communicates face to face and by telephone with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner. Maintains a positive attitude and remains calm under pressure, while working in a fast-pace environment. Focuses on continuous improvement to meet customer needs; supports new programs, ideas and processes. Recognizes the importance of teamwork and effectively participates in teamwork processes. Verifies patient insurance coverage in accordance with protocol and demonstrates competencies in both manual and electronic verification methods. Processes return mail each day in a an accurate and timely manner. Handle and resolve customer complaints. Documents customer interactions and transactions. Documentation is to be concise, thorough, and accurate. Accepts payments and sets up payment arrangements. Utilizes computer system as needed for information, data analysis, and to complete tasks. Performs basic tasks in a timely manner with minimum guidance and supervision. Attends departmental meetings and other in-service and training sessions relative to job. Other duties and special projects that are assigned by management High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate (GED or HISET). College degree preferred. Two plus years working in a provider office dealing with insurance and coding information is required. MS Office applications required. Good Communication skills both oral and written.
High school diploma required. 1 - 3 years of experience in a medial office or hospital setting. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Proven computer proficiency, the use of multiple applications simultaneously is a must.
BLS is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
